| Composition |
D-Oxytetra Capsule : Each Capsule contains Oxytetracycline BP 250 mg.

| INDICATIONS |
Oxytetracycline (D-Oxytetra) is a broad spectrum, acid-stable bactericidal antibiotic which covers a wide range of infections caused by both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. |
| DOSEAGE & ADMINISTRATION |
|
Oral:
Adult: 250-500 mg 6 hourly.
Children:Up to 2 years, 1/4 of the adult dose. 2-10 years, 1/2 of the adult dose; or based on body weight, 25-50 mg/kg/day in divided doses.
For the treatment of bacterial meningitis

| SIDE-EFFECTS |
|
Gastro-intestinal tract discomforts ; Over growth of commensal organisms, superinfection with resistant organisms, staining of bone and teeth; Rarely allergic reaction; nausea, bomiting, diarrhea.
|
| CONTRAINDICATIONS |
|
Hypersensitivity to any oxytetracycline ; renal failure ; pregnancy; infants and young children under 12 years of age; SLE.
|
| PRECAUTIONS |
|
Incompatible with penicillins and other bactericidal antimicrobial agents ; renal impairment; pregnancy and childhood .
|
| OVERDOSAGE |
|
A little information on acute overdose is available. Toxicity is low and the only adverse effects are nausea, vomiting, and allergic manifestutiry.

| STORAGE |
|
Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light.
