| DESCRIPTION |
Cetridol is a preparation of cetirizine hydrochloride. It is a piperazine derivative, a potent antihistamine, with anti-allergic properties. Its principal effects are mediated via selective inhibition of peripheral H1 receptors.

| DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION |
Adults and children over 6 years : 10 mg daily or 5 mg twice daily
Children 2-6 years & hay fever : 5 mg daily or 2.5 mg twice daily

| CONTRAINDICATIONS |
Hypersensitivity to cetirizine hydrochloride or its parent compound.
During pregnancy and breast-feeding.

| DRUG INTERACTIONS |
|
There is no report of potential hazardous or beneficial drug interaction. Cetridol does not potentiate the effect of alcohol or benzodiazepines. But as with other antihistamines it is advisable to avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

| USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION |
|
Cetirizine is not teratogenic in animals and there is no evidence to cause foetal anomalies in human. But there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. So cetirizine should be used in pregnancy only if clearly needed. Cetirizine is excreted in human breast milk. Therefore, it is not recommended to lactating mothers.

| SIDE-EFFECTS |
|
Cetridol is well tolerated. It does not produce anticholinergic effects. Lower incidence of sedation, headache, dry mouth and gastrointestinal disturbances may occur.

| PHARMACEUTICAL PRECAUTION |
|
Store in a cool (below 30°C), dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not store syrup in a refrigerator.

| PACKAGING |
|
Cetridol tablet: Box containing 10 strips of 10 tablets each. Each film-coated tablet contains cetirizine hydrochloride BP 10 mg.
