Ferrous fumarate and folic acid are 2 iron salt, in which contains 300mg ferrous fumarate 50 mg folic acid.

| Composition: |
D-Iron syrup is a preparation of ferrous fumarate 300mg/5ml and folic acid 2.5mg/ 5ml.
|
| Indication: |
Ferrous fumarate and folic acid are indicated for the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anaemia. Prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anaemia before during and after pregnancy and during lactation. |
| Contra Indication: |
In conditions where there is a risk of iron overload e.g. haemolytic anaemia, haemochromatosis, thalassemia or haemosiderosis. In case of hypersensitivity to iron or any other ingredients of the preparation.

| Side Effects: |
This preparation is well tolerated. However dark stools are usual during iron therapy; nausea and other symptoms of gastrointestinal irritation, such as anorexia, vomiting discomfort, constipation and diarrhoea are sometimes encountered.

| Precaution: |
|
Iron chelates with antacid and tetracycline and absorption of all these may be impaired if taken concurrently.
|
| Pregnancy and Lactation: |
|
Recommended in pregnancy and lactation; but during first trimester of pregnancy requires careful assessment of potential risk and benefit of the therapy and should not be administered unless clearly indicated.

| Doses and Administration: |
|
Adult: 2 tea spoonful in single or divided doses in a day.
Child: half of he adult dose.
